Naming ceremonies are often chosen instead of traditional religious events like christenings or baptisms and take place in a location of your choice.

What Happens During the Ceremony

• As your celebrant I begin the celebration with a warm introduction and an idea of the format of the occasion, which we would have previously discussed.

• There is an opportunity for story telling with readings, poems, stories and reflections for your family and friends to share.

• There are lots of lovely symbolic rituals that can be shared as part of the ceremony include lighting candles, planting trees, or creating keepsakes to mark the occasion.

• Parents and supporting adults may like to make pledges or statements to support the child’s growth and future well-being.

• You may wish this to be a time to embrace cultural traditions that might have spiritual significance for your family so they could be included too.
